Compliance With Applicable Laws

Shida’s Braid Lounge operates subject to applicable federal, Maryland State, and Prince George’s County laws, regulations, licensing requirements, zoning requirements, health and sanitation standards, and other applicable governmental requirements.

Nothing in this policy is intended to waive, exclude, or limit any right or protection that cannot legally be waived or limited under applicable law.

Shida’s Braid Lounge reserves the right to decline, postpone, modify, or discontinue a service when necessary to maintain compliance with applicable law, licensing requirements, health and safety standards, or professional obligations.

Home-Based Services

Where services are provided from a residential location, services will be conducted only to the extent permitted by applicable zoning, use-and-occupancy, salon, licensing, and other regulatory requirements.

The salon does not represent that a residential location may be used for commercial salon services merely because the property is privately owned or occupied.

Where a governmental approval, permit, salon authorization, or other requirement applies, Shida’s Braid Lounge will comply with that requirement before conducting the applicable activity.

Mobile / On-Location Services

Shida’s Braid Lounge may offer on-location services at a client's home, hotel, event venue, workplace, or other approved location where such services are legally permitted and properly authorized.

Mobile appointments are subject to:

  • applicable Maryland licensing and mobile-service requirements;

  • applicable local zoning and property rules;

  • reasonable sanitation and safety requirements;

  • availability of a safe and suitable working environment;

  • access to adequate lighting and workspace; and

  • any additional requirements applicable to the specific location.

The salon reserves the right to refuse or terminate an on-location appointment if the environment is unsafe, unsanitary, inaccessible, unsuitable for the requested service, or otherwise presents an unreasonable risk to the stylist, client, equipment, or other persons.

4. Client Responsibility for the Service Location

For mobile appointments, the client is responsible for ensuring that the requested location is legally and reasonably suitable for the appointment.

The client must provide:

  • a clean and reasonably sanitary working area;

  • adequate seating;

  • sufficient lighting;

  • reasonable access to the location;

  • a safe environment for the stylist and equipment; and

  • any other reasonable facility specifically communicated before the appointment.

The client must notify Shida’s Braid Lounge in advance of any condition that could reasonably affect the service, including pets, children, accessibility restrictions, contagious conditions, hazardous materials, construction, excessive smoke, or other safety concerns.

Shida’s Braid Lounge is not responsible for delays, additional costs, inability to complete a service, or cancellation resulting from an unsafe, inaccessible, unsuitable, or undisclosed condition at a client's location.

Hair and Scalp Condition

Clients are responsible for providing accurate information concerning their hair, scalp, allergies, sensitivities, previous treatments, medications or other conditions that may reasonably affect the requested service.

The stylist may inspect the client's hair and scalp before beginning a service.

Shida’s Braid Lounge may refuse or modify a service if the stylist reasonably believes that proceeding could cause injury, excessive hair breakage, scalp irritation, infection, or other harm.

Clients should disclose known scalp conditions, allergies, sensitivities, recent chemical treatments, extensions, color treatments, or other relevant circumstances before the appointment.

Tension, Discomfort and Hair Damage

Braiding is a tension-based service and individual results may vary depending on hair type, density, condition, scalp sensitivity, previous treatments, and the requested style.

The client must immediately inform the stylist if the hairstyle feels excessively tight, painful, or uncomfortable.

The stylist may adjust, loosen, modify, or discontinue a service when reasonably necessary for the client's safety.

Shida’s Braid Lounge will not knowingly continue a service after being informed that the client is experiencing significant pain or discomfort.

Clients acknowledge that improper aftercare, excessive tension caused by client-requested styling, failure to communicate discomfort, pre-existing hair/scalp conditions, or undisclosed information may contribute to hair breakage, irritation, or other adverse results.

Allergies and Sensitivities

Clients are responsible for informing Shida’s Braid Lounge of known allergies or sensitivities before products are applied.

Where appropriate, the salon may recommend a patch test or alternative product.

No guarantee can be made that a client will not experience an allergic reaction, irritation, sensitivity, or other adverse response to a product.

If a client experiences an unexpected reaction during a service, the service may be immediately stopped and appropriate safety measures may be recommended.

Health and Safety

Shida’s Braid Lounge reserves the right to refuse or reschedule an appointment where the client presents with a condition that reasonably creates a health or safety risk to the client, stylist, or other persons.

Clients should not attend an appointment when they are experiencing a contagious illness or other condition that may reasonably expose the stylist or other clients to a health risk.

Nothing in this policy constitutes medical advice or a medical diagnosis.

Service Results

Because hair texture, density, length, condition, growth pattern, previous treatments, and individual preferences differ, Shida’s Braid Lounge cannot guarantee that every requested style will produce an identical result to a photograph or reference image supplied by a client.

Reference photographs are used as style inspiration and do not constitute a guarantee of an identical result.

Deposits, Cancellations and No-Shows

A booking deposit is required to secure an appointment of US$ 30.

Deposits may be non-refundable where permitted by applicable law and the booking terms communicated to the client before payment.

Clients are expected to provide reasonable notice when cancelling or rescheduling.

Late arrivals may result in modification of the requested service, additional charges, or cancellation when insufficient appointment time remains.

Repeated no-shows, late cancellations, or abusive booking behavior may result in the client being required to prepay future appointments or being refused future bookings.

Client Property

Clients remain responsible for personal belongings brought to the salon or present at an on-location appointment.

Shida’s Braid Lounge is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property except to the extent liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Photos and Marketing

Shida’s Braid Lounge may request permission to photograph completed hairstyles for portfolio, website, social-media, advertising, and promotional purposes.

In the event that the client sees her image (picture) in our promotional outlets and wants it taken out, we will gladly do so.

A client may decline promotional photography without affecting the quality of the booked service.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Maryland law, Shida’s Braid Lounge shall not be responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or unforeseeable losses arising from a service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for matters that cannot legally be excluded or limited under Maryland law.

Nothing in this section is intended to release Shida’s Braid Lounge from liability arising from conduct for which a limitation or waiver is prohibited by law.

Client Cooperation and Assumption of Ordinary Service Risks

By booking a service, the client acknowledges that ordinary hair-braiding services involve certain inherent risks, including temporary scalp tenderness, discomfort, hair tension, hair breakage, or irritation.

The client agrees to communicate discomfort, allergies, sensitivities, or relevant hair/scalp conditions before and during the service.

The client is responsible for following reasonable aftercare instructions provided by the stylist.

Right to Refuse Service

Shida’s Braid Lounge reserves the right to refuse, postpone, modify, or terminate a service when reasonably necessary because of:

  • unsafe or unsanitary conditions;

  • abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or inappropriate behavior;

  • suspected contagious conditions;

  • materially undisclosed hair or scalp conditions;

  • inadequate working conditions;

  • failure to comply with appointment requirements;

  • circumstances that could place the stylist or client at unreasonable risk; or

  • legal, licensing, regulatory, or professional requirements.

Where a service cannot lawfully or safely be performed, Shida’s Braid Lounge will not be required to proceed merely because an appointment has been booked.

Third-Party Locations

For mobile appointments held at hotels, event venues, workplaces, rented properties, or other third-party locations, the client is responsible for obtaining any permission required from the property owner, host, venue, hotel, employer, landlord, or other controlling party.

Shida’s Braid Lounge is not responsible for a client's failure to obtain such permission.

Changes to Services and Pricing

Service prices, availability, appointment requirements, and policies may be changed from time to time.

The terms and pricing applicable to a confirmed booking will generally be those communicated to the client at the time of booking, subject to applicable law.

No Waiver of Legal Rights

Nothing contained in these Terms is intended to waive any non-waivable consumer protection, health, safety, licensing, or other statutory rights.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, where legally permitted, and the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland, to the extent applicable.

Any dispute shall be handled in accordance with applicable Maryland law and any mandatory jurisdictional requirements.
